new mexico adventure

for spring break ruthie, my nurse friend (who i also happen to live with at the moment), and i had a new mexico adventure.  we went and stayed with tina, who is basically a distant (ish) relative.  it was so great!

here are some of the things we did:

we did some extreme summer sledding at white sands on our drive up.  we also almost got shot up with missiles because we somehow ended up driving into this military missile range.  we kept wondering why we were seeing yellow signs with tanks on them that were shooting things...

we saw the snow for the first time in a year for me, and many years for ruthie (i think), while hiking in the sandia mountains.

we went up the tram in the sandia mountains.  it was very high and scary.  and COLD.  so cold.  i had a hat and gloves and still froze.  there's a tiny ski hill (tinier than snowy) that is at the top of the mountains.  you have to take the tram to get to it.

we went to the tent rocks and hiked up to the top.  ruthie had this idea that we should do handstands in front of the rocks.  so i went first.
me doing a handstand.
ruthie doing a reverse handstand.  i tried to show her how but i fell over and scraped my elbow and my knee.  people looked at us weird.
