bandolier adventure

we decided to start adventuring while we have the chance because i will HOPEFULLY be receiving a rad job offer this week or next.

so we went to bandolier.  it's by santa fe.  last time part of it was closed because of flooding but this time we got to see the whole thing and climb all the scary enormous ladders!

the park ranger lady told us all about the trail that had gotten washed out by flooding and now it was only "a route, not a trail.  but don't worry, you'll see markers!"

just before we got to the "route" to go to the big ladders, this guy came back towards us.  he told us "don't make the same mistake i did!  there's no trail!  i don't even know where i was, but i had to turn back!"

we decided to make the mistake because we really wanted to see the rest of the area.  we got to the end of the trail.  and we saw more trail.  but i guess being from wyoming, when you see trampled grass and know it's the trail, it makes a giant 5 foot walking path look pretty trail-y even when there aren't rocks marking the edge…

learning some things about the pueblo ancestors before we get to the cave/cliff dwellings

baby ladder

baby ladder and baby cave

baby ladder and baby cave again

sooooo tired.  we just climbed 140 feet of ladder!

made it down the ladder!! hooray!

can't resist an "up the noser" as we show off our ladder-going-down skills.
