Arrow to the Eye

"...they returned from a victorious battle in the North on Friday the 13th to be invaded on Saturday the 14th by the French (William Duke of Normandy, or William the Conqueror, to be exact)...and that was the end of the Saxons."
Important: today I went to Battle and Hastings. Battle is the village where the Battle of Hastings occurred in 1066. Harold II was killed there by an arrow to the eye (so they say). So an abby was built at the site and a stone was placed where Harold died, and a village eventually grew up around it. Hastings is a town about six miles away. So Gorgeous! We got a little history lesson at Battle, which was really interesting, and at Hastings, they just set us free to do whatever we wanted. So we climbed up a hill to see the Smugglers Caves (which turned out to be a bit hokey) and the Hastings Castle, and the view was amazing. It was also sunny, which was definitely a plus.
Also very important: I had my first real British Breakfast today! Very exciting. And delicious. And Huge! We (I made some new friends today, as well! Mikah, aren't you proud?!) realized while we were eating that the British serve chips with Everything: fish, chili, breakfast, ice cream (ok, the last one is not a proven fact, but based on previous observations, we can reasonably come to that conclusion...). So we were wondering how all these British people stay so skinny with all their beer and chips. I decided that all their shivering in their non-clothes helps them work off the calories. I mean, it's true. On Monday, when we had our snow day, I saw some crazy British boys running around without coats. And girls were sledding in micro-mini skirts! And a night on the town? Suffice it to say that all you can see of a group of girls is a blur of skin and tiny dresses for all their shivering.
On a final [important] note(!), I got told I looked like Kate Winslet today. Flattering? Of course. True? Not so sure. Let me know...!
