day 13

gosh i'm so proud of myself!  i wasn't sure if i would remember to keep it up, to be very honest!
these are my kitchen window plants.  my christmas cactus and my geranium.

(it was so strange - it just took me like 5 minutes to remember "geranium".  i was looking at it, and it just would not come into my brain.  i was like, "okay brain, i think it starts with a P...petunia? uh... ok maybe it starts with an O...uhhh....come on brain!"  and finally when i was giving up is when it decided to pop in...

that's a psychology phenomenon, do you know?  tip of the tonge phenomenon.  it's real.  i learned about it this semester in Cognitive Psychology.  your brain doesn't have enough "mental cues" to dig up the word you are looking for...interesting, eh?

random, i know.  i was brushing my teeth and i noticed i had a hole in my shirt at belly button level.  and it was the perfect size for my belly button ring!  hahahahaha

this is my life.  until wednesday at noon.  next wednesday, that is, as this wednesday at noon has already passed...much too slowly, but at the same time much too quickly...

please disregard the tweezers.  i don't actually study with them.  in fact, i don't even know why they are there...i haven't used them in weeks, i'm sorry to admit...

apparantly uploading pictures is back to how it was...i don't really know what was going on.  maybe i was clicking all the wrong buttons.  i do have a billion exams within 6 hours of each other...

oh no!!!

something with "blogger" has gone horribly wrong!  i think they have updated and now i don't know how to upload photos!  i even was going to make today's deadline (hah) with my photo of the day!  now i might have to wait until tomorrow or even the next day - so i can get through all of my exams (and it's not even finals week...) and then try to figure it out...
i know how disappointed you all are, but just remember...
don't eat yellow snow.  because, as hard as it is to believe, at the end of april, yes, we still have snow...
and...
the grass may look greener on the other side...that just means they're not getting enough gorgeous sunshine to bake the grass to a nice, golden crispiness...
either that or it's because you live in wyoming and it's april and still snowing...

i have been listening to this song NONSTOP. 
loving it.  and she is Nuts, which i also love - and nuts in a much better way than lady gaga...
i have also been listeng to this other song pretty nonstop.  she's a little folky, a little country (but not too much), possibly a little bluesy in some of her other stuff...i'm pretty impressed with her, as well.

day 8

i made it!  (although i was thinking that for the days that i can't post, i will still take a picture and then post some days together, and it will still count - like when/if i'm gone for fire this summer(!!!))

i forgot my camera in my car, and no way was i going to go back down and get it at 1130 at night in the blizzarding-end-of-april snow.  so i took a picture with my phone - and it is suprisingly good quality.

it makes me sad that all the flowers are falling off my orchids.  i hope they don't die.  the orchids, that is.  i hope they grow new flowers.

day 7

this is what i was doing instead of studying today.  i have 3 exams this week - the two hardest ones are back to back wednesday night, from 5 to 9, and i could barely even study today...

i have a feeling it's going to hit me soon (i hope) and there will be a few late nights until then...

sick day

i should of thought of this before i was actually sick. 
camping out in bed on a rainy afternoon (well, technically it's still morning, but i've been up for over an hour, so that definitely counts as afternoon...)
anyways. camping out in bed with sebastian (my computer) and a book, and some pens and paper in case i feel inspired - to write a letter, that is, and some apple juice.  what more could you ask for in life?
oh ya - to feel better, so i could actually fully enjoy it...

day 4

this is harddd!!!  first, i forget my camera, and so it's a little panic while i figure out what i'm going to photograph.  then, it's like i can't stop, and how do i choose just one?!
so here are my two of day 4...

i love my apartment.  i was thinking about it the other day, and i love how...white it is.  everything is White!  when i was apartment hunting for the first time, and shopping for things to go in my apartment, i wanted Everything to be white.  Everything.  sheets, comforters, dishes, everything.  i thought it might be a stage i was going through, but it now seems that it was not....either that or i am still in the white phase...

this is one of the flowers from the orchid that i got from my mommy and daddy for valentine's.  the flowers are all falling off.  it had 9 flowers, and now it is down to 3.  sad, sad day.

scary dream

i had a scary dream last night. 
i was at the self checkout buying some stuff and a spider (!) crawled on to the scanner thing.  and i got really scared, but sort of fascinated at the same time, for some reason, which should never have happened.  so i looked closer and....it was a black widow! and it had scary red legs and the hourglass thing on it.  and i was so scared, i just knew it was going to bite me.  and no one was in the store to kill it for me, and all i had was a washcloth (i guess that's what i was buying, or something?).  so i was trying to hit it with the washcloth, but it kept dodging, and getting away - but then it would come back on the scanner, like it was taunting me.  then right when i finally got it with my deadly weapon, another one came onto the scanner.  and it started all over again with the killing of spider with a dirty spider-guts rag.  and when i finally killed that one someone came into the store - it might have been pj, but i don't really know.  and i was holding the spider-guts rag, and i was saying how i had to get rid of it, but i didn't know where to put it.  also i think that ithey're still poisonous, even if they're dead.  and the person was like, "nah, they're only poisonous in their one front tooth, and it's crooked, so it can't get you very well"...oh, sweet relief...?

( i just want you to know that i'm getting creepy crawlies all over again...about crooked spider teeth)

i was on my way to volunteer and i looked behind me and saw a lovely little sunset.  not your typical beauty, but nonetheless...

new goal!

i've come up with a new goal.  well, i've been thinking about it for a while, and it's not actually my idea in the first place.  but i have been thinking that it might be a good idea.  one that might turn out to be interesting, in the least.
a girl i used to know, who has a blog that i sometimes read, once she decided to take a picture a day for a full year.  i don't know if she finished, or if she even made it past day one, but she takes really lovely photos, and always inspires me to...sort of look at things from a different perspective...
anyways.  i think i have decided that, starting today, i'm going to do it too.  just to keep myself inspired.  and april 18th is apparantly the day to start. 
so here is my photo of the day (although i have 2 because i couldn't decide between them.  the rule i guess will be at least one photo, but possibly more, if i feel like it...)

8 year-old's treasures

i was cleaning the other day, and i found this little star box, and it was really tarnished, so i thought i would clean it off.  and i found all this random stuff inside.  i think i probably collected it all when i was like 8.  except for the quarter stuck in the beer cap, but i figured that would go with all the rest...
it's fascinating what little kids find to treasure...
except for the key, they were all presents - funny that i can remember them all.  except one, that is.

maddy gave me athe 4 rocks - she said for good luck.
an old friend gave me the piece of stick (ok that wasn't from 8 - that was from high school).  if you break this certain kind of twig (i don't remember which type of tree...) at the knots, there is a star in the middle and i love stars.
the pearls (which i believe are fake, although she told me they were real and so be really careful with them) were from a babysitter.  one i hated, actually.  she used to lock me out of the house (well, both my sissy and i) and i would just leave and go to alicia's house around the corner, and then i would get in trouble from my mommy for leaving the house without asking.
i'm not sure who the ring was from.  possibly alicia.
and the quarter stuck in the beer cap reminds me of another someone i used to know.

the other weekend my favorite auntie carol was in town.  her and dan and ludi and chip all came for lunch and to see the "new house" and to go flea marketing.
and my favorite auntie carol got me the perfect suprise.  and i love them!

A BOY IN THE CAR!!!!!

i went to denver this weekend for a little interview. 
nothing serious, don't worry kids - just to possibly volunteer at a camp for kids with cancer during the summer. 
anyways.  i didn't want to drive down in the morning - we all know how i am in the morning - so i called the lovely markandmary and invited myself, and russell, to stay.
they made dinner reservations, but we weren't there an hour before the reservations so mary was telling me how she was calling to cancel our reservations and was saying something along the lines of "we need to cancel because half our party isn't here.  oh they just pulled up.  but we still need to - THERE'S A BOY IN THE CAR!!!!"  (she said the girl on the phone to her was just laughing...)
i told them i was bringing a friend, but apparantly they just assumed it would be a girl friend.  perhaps these days if it's a boy it can't be just a friend?  i thought that was like in the old days? like the 70's?  (HAHAHAHA)  to say the least, they were a little shocked.  and mark had to call home and find out about "the boyfriend"  who isn't my boyfriend, and who has also never met my parents.

easter woo hoo!!

easter was nice.  besides the fact that it was an off and on blizzard all weekend.  my daddy came over and so we had it at the new house!  we cooked lots of food and found out that the oven doesn't work, and didn't really do much but eat and watch movies, but still nice.  nice to have a break and not do Anything! not even homework!

we ate artichokes and this was the middle part that you tear out just before the fuzzies...pretty!

it's my mommy and daddy at easter dinner!  it was so good!  even if the oven didn't work!  microwaves really do work wonders!

our pukey eggs that we dyed.  we hated them (me and my dad) and so we starting coloring them with markers instead....which wasn't much better...

i have to be honest.  sugar infused with sugar.  as in, sugar buzz before you even finish chewing the first ear.  cute.  but so much sugar.

I won the easter egg hunt (little pj always wins! [as in, my sissy!]) and not only did I win it, I won it in 3 short minutes!!!

red is the new green

last weekend i went to the cabin with the fam.  and the hepners.  and it was fun.  in a very sleepy, studious kind of way.  (i had to study the whole time because i had 3 exams this week...)
everyone just ate a lot and drank a lot (not me - see above) and went skiing (not me - i only came on the condition that i wouldn't have to ski...!) and shoveled snow.

i went snow(ing) shoeing for the first time with my daddy and it was so fun!!!  i might have to invest...some day.  like after i have a job and no school to pay for.

just what i needed

was san diego.  and a st. patrick's day parade.  and a trip over the coronado bridge.  and renting a bike/cart/thing.  and many trips to moonlight beach.  in the day.  and an afternoon of bike riding along pacific beach.  and no snow.  and no wind.  and no class to worry about.  or anything else.  it was gorgeous.  go, if you get the chance.
