a lightbulb

a lightbulb for my fridge, that is.
since i have lived here (approximately one point five years), my refrigerator has not had a lightbulb.  i just thought it was too ancient to even have a fixture.
but alas, boredom struck.
and i did some detective work.
and found that my refri (spanish) really did have a fixture.
just no lightbulb.
hence.
the lightbulb that i got.
and then put into my kuhlschrank (german).
now there is light!!!
disclaimer:  please disregard the sodas in the bottom shelf.
i never buy soda.  maybe at lunch or something once a month,
but never in bulk.  this was only for some Guests that i had.
who drink soda.  but did not drink my sodas.
now i am stuck with them.  oh. no.

myspace quiz day #21

#21.  scenario...your best friend is in a car accident and you got into a fight a couple of hours before.  what do you do?

feel guilty for the rest of my life.
seriously.
if there is any guilt to be found, in anything, the smallest thing, i will find it, and my conscience will feed on it.

anyways.  whether or not we got in a fight, i would probably feel guilty for some reason, and i would probably be in the hospital the entire time, doing whatever.

picture from here
this is what came up when i google imaged "guilt"
today i like guilt.

haiku:
(i was just going to end with "worst question. ever." and then i was like (yes, like) 'hey! a haiku line! awesome!!'):

worst question. ever.
myspace quizzes really suck.
i got a lightbulb!

high school valentine

i don't think i actually had one.  one time in maybe 4th grade little joey* asked me to be his valentine.  and i said yes.  and then my neighbor/best friend (if only by proximity) said that she wanted to be little joey's valentine.  so i told little joey that i wasn't going to be his valentine, because i could never hurt my friend like that.  little joey and my neighbor/best friend weren't valentines.  so because of my selflessness, no one got what they wanted!

the end.

but i did get a lot of valentine cards.  this one came from a good/best friend.

* names changed for the safety of our...my(?) ego/dignity/self-esteem?  something...
well, whatever - you don't get to know who little joey was!!!  and no, it didn't actually start with a 'j', you jerks!!

myspace quiz day #20

#20.  your views on drugs and alcohol

everything in moderation.

the problem with drugs, is that some of them (most of them - i think, i can't say i'm really an expert in this area) some of them can't really be taken in moderation, and aren't made in moderation.
take meth, for example.  made out of the most random, disguisting things ever, and in serious high concentration.  try it once, and you can be seriously addicted - it messes with your system that much.

i took a drugs and behavior class for psyc a few semesters ago (heck, it could be years, i've been in school for that long...) and i learned so many weird and random things about drugs and alcohol and caffeine, which is addictive like a drug...
anyways.  so many of the classic artists, authors, philosophers, took random drugs for most of their stuff.  opium was the one i remember the most of....

i don't know.  i'm rambling, because i don't know anything about it, but i'm trying to make stuff up to sound smart...

anyways....

be cool.  stay in school.

stats class continued...

so many memories of stats class.  i had that class with jerod, who i worked with one summer - i was on trails and he was on fire.

the story of when i first met jerod.  i like to pronounce it juh-rod.  just a little fyi...
i had started work about two weeks before the rest of my crew, in an attempt for my mom to get rid of me and to make me suck up my...wussiness about just having my wisdom teeth taken out.  (which was Horrible, by the way)
since i started early, i was just by myself most of the time.  i had to mow the lawn alot in encampment, and so one day when i was getting ready to eat lunch, the fire guys came out to eat.  so i grabbed my lunch, which consisted of a yogurt, because i still couldn't eat, partly because of the gaping holes in my mouth, and partly because my meds (strong ones - i probably shouldn't have been operating heavy machinery - or any machinery, really) were still making me sick.  and i asked them if i could have lunch with them.  jerod looked at my yogurt and was like "um, i don't think your lunch will fit at our table, sorry."
we were instant friends.  and it just got worse from there.

we found out we had stats together so we sat together and talked through lecture every tuesday and thursday.  i'm pretty sure our professor hated us.  when he would make his little comments about "if you can't get out of it, you might as well get into it" he would always look at us pointedly.  but it never worked.
there were a lot of good specimens in that lecture for us to make fun of:  the head nodder, square face girl, the nose picker, the boy with beautiful locks, the list goes on.  we had a lot of fun in lecture.

since everyone always leaves early for thanksgiving break, our professor told us he would give us all extra credit if we came to class.  we had to turn in a hand turkey to prove that we were in class.  jerod and i were really excited about this, and thought that we could maybe get on our professor's good side (or maybe even just off of his, uh, shit list) if we turned in really gorgeous turkeys.  so we bought feathers and glitter and even google eyes.
everyone looked at us funny when we turned in our turkeys.  but we were proud of them.  we imagined pretz, our professor, was so impressed that he hung our turkeys on his door, to remind him for the rest of his days what dedicated students he taught.
here are the rough drafts, before we added the glitter and feathers:
(unfortunately, i never got a picture of the final draft...)

i don't know about jerod, but it must have worked for me because i got an a in the class...suprisingly...!

myspace quiz day #19

#19.  what is your opinion of religion?

oh dear.  i don't know.  i like parts of most religions that i know anything about, and i dislike parts of most religions i know anything about.

here is what i think:
i think that you don't necessarily need religion to be a good person.  i think that you can have morals without religion.  in some instances, i think it's more important to have morals that to be guilted into doing the "right" thing by your religion.

i also think that some (or many, i don't really know i guess) people use religion to shoulder their blame.  as in:
"it's my fate, i can't change it"
"it's how god made me, i can't change"
and so on and so forth.
aa.  i think that is definitely a religious institution(?) that lets people push their blame onto something else.  it's a religious program to help cure alcoholism - a disease - yes, i admit it can BECOME a physiological disease and that some people are more suceptible* than others - but all the same, a disease that we bring on ourselves by drinking in the first place.

*i have no idea how to spell that word

stats class

i was going through my storage, aka parent's basement, the other day and i found all my old notes and books.  kept the books, threw out the notes (recycled even!).  but i couldn't throw my stats notes away without like a billion pictures first.  (i say like because there are many many pictures, probably close to a billion - i just can't be sure, so i have to estimate by using like)

don't ask.
to be continued...!

i have to be honest, they probably did not cost this much...
but alas, i am not being greedy, i'm just helping you out!

myspace quiz day #18

#18.  your views on gay marriage

i think that love is love, and people are people.  i don't think you can tell someone that they shouldn't be able to marry someone because of their sex, and their preferences.  i kind of feel like it's a bit like telling a girl she can't marry a boy because he has brown hair.

myspace quiz day #17

#17.  a book you've read that changed your view on something

i just read chocolat by joanne harris (you know, the movie with johnny depp??).
very good.
very well written.
definitely a thinker.  if you've seen the movie (i didn't even know it was a book first - although most good movies are - until i ran into it accidentally at the library), then you know that a sort of witch/gypsy woman and her daughter move into this really small, conservative town in France.
and everyone in the town is so closed-minded that it takes forever for the woman and her daughter to be accepted into the town.  and when the people finally start accepting them, the pastor of their church (it's a Very small town) still doesn't.  and he doesn't accept the gypsies who sometimes come up the river on their boat for supplies and food and business.
and then a whole bunch of other things happen...

one thing that really made me think was that we are conditioned to believe certain things, and accept certain things, but not others, from birth.  and we get so set in our ways that a change, even one that will change things for the better, is almost incomprehensible - unacceptable.
another thing is that the person in the book who perpetuates all these issues with the gypsies and outsiders, is the pastor (father? preacher? cure`, he was called in the book) the religious head of this town.  the person who is supposed to accept and forgive...well, everything.  and it's sad to me, not that people interpret religion, but how.

anyways.
read the book.  way more in depth that the movie.  although i do like me some johnny depp!

wedding dress that i Need

i found the wedding dress that i Need.  it's even in my size.  and only a 3rd of the price that it was originally (which was probably thousands of dollars...sadly enough).
isn't it Gorgeous?  i'm in love.

these other two are pretty gorgeous as well.

when my sissy was moving

when my sissy was moving to the lovely city of okc, her company paid to have her stuff moved to her new flat.  the one condition was that someone be there to supervise (i guess to not get sued for broken and missing stuff).
anyways.  i was the lucky winner, as i was between classes, and my mamacita was working.
it was very cold and boring because ferdinand's radio didn't work at the time.  it hadn't worked for years, then suddenly, at the end of this whole supervision thing, it blared some mexican music at me and scared the you-know-what out of me (well, almost...)
this is what i did while i was bored:

the end.

myspace quiz day #15

#15.  something or someone you couldn't live without

burt's bees chapstick.  seriously.  i don't think i ever go anywhere without it.  other than the time between when i lose one and have to go buy another, i am almost never without it.
it may or may not be a slight addiction.  i love how tingly it is (it's peppermint)

picture from here

picture from here
did you know burt's bees got bought out by clorox?!?!  well, obviously they are not the same small, sweet company that they started out as, if they have adverts like this one.  typical of society, is all i will say.
it's strange to me that they thought they had to resort to sex to sell, because obviously burt's bees was already hugely successful without it...
another conversation for another day...

food art

a while ago i made some salsa and i made some food art while i was cutting up the mangoes.  yes, salsa with mangoes.  yes, it is amazing.  maybe, if you're lucky, i'll tell you how to make it.  but we all know how bad i am at explaining recipes.
