i've had this thing for mommy blogs for a while. and i finally have a conscious reason why. or 2. which is nice, i guess. not that i need a reason to like them. but maybe it's nice to know why certain things attract you sometimes.
the mommies often blog throughout their pregnancies and then continue blogging as they parent. which is the point, i guess.
number one reason i realized i like to read them: their perspectives [on a little bit of everything] often change over the course of their pregnancies and after the birth of their child. and i find this fascinating. i'm not sure if my blog is mature enough for you [3 readers] to see that i have maybe changed or grown or something in the course of my - holy crap! i just looked it up! - almost 4.5 years on here. in fact, i'm not sure i'm mature enough! i don't necessarily feel that my blog has evolved in any way - not that it needs to. i just find it interesting to read about strangers whose lives evolve so visibly, so clearly.
number two reason i like them is that they all write their birth stories. which are fascinating. and beautiful. and tragic. and graceful. and ecstatic. and emotional. i find them even more appealing and interesting the more i learn about nursing, and the more i form my own opinions and values on a subject i had never really thought about (other than the fact that it happens).
and then occasionally you find the blog writer who is actually a beautiful writer. so not only do they have a beautiful story, but they tell it with the most beautiful words.
these are a couple of today's favorites:
TheDayBook
MamaMandolin (her name is mandolin - i think that's so gorgeous.)
KincaidParade
ComesInColours
